1st Lesson

Parent-Little One (see the schedule)

Ages 9 months - 3 years old / 30 minute lessons / Ratio 1 : 6

The Parent-Little One class is our Parent Child Aquatics Level 1 and 2 Program and is designed as an introduction for Little Ones ages 9 months to 3 years old and will prepare both parents and Little Ones for regular group lessons in the future. These lessons focus on becoming comfortable in the water, entering and exiting the pool, how to hold and support your Little One, floating on the front and back, breath control, submerging, and kicking. All our classes have a strong emphasis on safety in and around the water.

Beginner

Grunion (see the schedule)

Ages 3 - 5 years old / 30 minute lessons / Ratio is 1 : 3

The Grunion class is our Preschool Aquatics Level 1 and 2 Program and is designed as an introduction for children ages 3 to 5 years old who have very little or no prior experience. These lessons focus on being comfortable in the water, entering and exiting the water, jumping in the pool, breath control, self-submerging, opening eyes underwater, floating, introduction to treading, gliding, kicking, and combined arm and leg actions on front and back. All of our classes have a strong emphasis on safety in and around the water.

4 lessons / 1 per week: Saturday = $80 / 1 month session
4 lessons / 2 per week: Tuesday and Thursday = $80 / 2 week session

The Garibaldi class is our Learn-to-Swim Level 1: Introduction to Water Skills Program and is designed for children 6 years and older who have very little or no prior experience. These lessons focus on being comfortable in the water, entering and exiting the pool, breath control, self-submerging, bobbing, floating, introduction to treading, gliding, kicking, and combined arm and leg actions on front and back. All of our classes have a strong emphasis on safety in and around water.

The Sea Lion class is our Learn-to-Swim Level 2: Fundamental Aquatic Skills Program and is designed for children ages 6 years and older who have completed the Garibaldi class or can demonstrate the required skills. These lessons focus on jumping into shoulder deep water, self-submerging, breath control, bobbing, floating, gliding, treading, rotary breathing, kicking, and combined arm and leg actions on front and back. All our classes have a strong emphasis on safety in and around the water.

4 lessons / 1 per week: Saturday = $80 / 1 month session
4 lessons / 2 per week: Tuesday and Thursday = $80 / 2 week session

Intermediate

Minnow (see the schedule)

Ages 4 - 5 years old / 30 minute lessons / Ratio is 1 : 3

The Minnow class is our Preschool Aquatics Level 3 Program and is designed for children ages 4-5 years old who have successfully completed the Grunion class or can demonstrate the required skills. These lessons focus on jumping into the pool, breath control, bobbing, rotary breathing, floating, gliding, treading, and combined arm and leg actions on front and back. All of our classes have a strong emphasis on safety in and around the water.

The Harbor Seal class is our Learn-to-Swim Level 3: Stroke Development Program and is designed for children ages 6 years and older who have completed the Sea Lion class or can demonstrate the required skills. These lessons focus on jumping into deep water, introduction to headfirst entry, bobbing to safety, rotary breathing, survival float, back float for 1 minute, treading water for 1 minute, gliding, freestyle for 15 yards, elementary backstroke for 15 yards, and flutter, scissor, breaststroke, and dolphin kick. All our classes have a strong emphasis on safety in and around the water.

Bottle-Nose Dolphin (see the schedule)

The Bottle-Nose Dolphne class is our Learn-to-Swim Level 4: Stroke Improvement Program and is designed for children ages 6 years and older who have completed the Harbor Seal class or can demonstrate the required skills. These lessons focus on headfirst entry, feetfirst surface dive, swimming underwater, treading water using different kicks, survival swimming for 1 minute, gliding in streamline position, kicking,  freestyle for 25 yards, elementary backstroke for 25 yards, breaststroke for 15 yards, back stroke for 15 yards, butterfly for 15 yards, sidestroke for 15 yards, and open turns on front and back. All our classes have a strong emphasis on safety in and around the water.

Advanced

Blue Shark (see the schedule)

Ages 6 - 17 years old / 30 minute lessons / Ratio is 1 : 6

The Blue Shark class is our Learn-to-Swim Level 5: Stroke Refinement Program and is designed for children ages 6 years and older who have completed the Bottle-Nose Dolphin class or can demonstrate the required skills. These lessons focus shallow-angle headfirst entry, tuck surface dive, pike surface dive, treading water for 5 minutes, treading water with legs only for 2 minutes, sculling for 30 seconds, freestyle for 50 yards, elementary backstroke for 50 yards, Breaststroke for 25 yards, Backstroke for 25 yards, Butterfly for 25 yards, Sidestroke for 25 yards, front flip turn, and backstroke flip turn.  All our classes have a strong emphasis on safety in and around the water.

Blue Whale (see the schedule)

Ages 6 - 17 years old / 30 minute lessons / Ratio is 1 : 6

The Blue Whale class is our Learn-to-Swim Level 6: Stroke Refinement Program and is designed for children ages 6 years and older who have completed the Blue Shark class or can demonstrate the required skills. This program offers three levels: Fitness Swimming, Personal Water Safety, and Fundamentals of Diving. These lessons focus on surface dive and retrieving an object from the bottom of the pool at 7-10 feet deep, freestyle for 100 yards, elementary backstroke for 100 yards, Breaststroke for 50 yards, Backstroke for 50 yards, Butterfly for 50 yards, Sidestroke for 50 yards, open turns on front and back, and flip turns on front and back while swimming.  All our classes have a strong emphasis on safety in and around the water.

Personalized & Specialty

Private Customized Instruction (see the schedule)

Ages Infant - 17 years old / 30 or 60 minute lessons / Ratio is 1 : 1

If you are interested in Private Customized Instruction for your child and don't see what you are looking for below, we are happy to accommodate your needs, please fill out the form on the 'Contact Us' page and let us know what would work best for you and your family. For beginners, the one-on-one private lessons will help guide past emotional hurdles, build new-found confidence, and have participants swimming as soon as possible at their own pace. For more experienced swimmers, the one-on-one private lessons will provide specialized instruction in competetive stroke development and refinement, encourage proper technique, as well as, help build towards optimal endurance and efficiency. Our private lessons are designed to be customized, challenging, and rewarding. All our classes have a strong emphasis on safety in and around the water.

4 - 60 minute lessons/1 per week: Saturday = $240 / 1 month session

Blue Water Swim Team (see the schedule)

Ages 8 - 16 years old / 60 minute / 2 per week / Ratio depends on enrollment

The Blue Water Swim Team is a 9 month program running from February through November and is designed for intermediate-advanced swimmers who have an interest in learning and training for the sport of competetive swimming in a non-competetive environment. Our program focuses on developing and refining the four competetive strokes: Freestyle, Backstroke, Breakstroke, and Butterfly, competetive starts, turns, steamlines, race and practice strategies, and building endurance. Each participant will receive personalized stroke instruction, race experience, and a Blue Water T-shirt. The Blue Water Swim Team program occassionally includes guest lectures addressing motivation, goal-setting, nutrition, training strategies, and other various subjects, as well as, observing high school varsity and junior varsity swim athletes in action during live swim meets. All Blue Water Swim Instructors are certified, experienced, well trained, and will do their best to accomodate each individual swimmer and their needs.

 

The Blue Water Swim Team is co-ed, open to ages 8 - 16 years old, and for swimmers of appropriate skill level who are deep water safe. Participants must be able to tread for a minimum of 1:00 minute in deep water, as well as, swim 50 yards freestyle without stopping, 25 yards backstroke, and already know one specialty stroke or kick (i.e. Breaststroke or Butterfly). Try outs for new participants are welcome and will be held on Monday and Wednesday afternoons between 3:45-4:00pm.

60 minutes / 2 per week: Monday and Wednesday 4:00-5:00pm = $100 / 1 month session

 

Blue Water Polo Team (see the schedule)

Ages 8 - 16 years old / 60 minute / 2 per week / Ratio depends on enrollment

The Blue Water Polo Team is a 9 month program running from February through November and is designed for intermediate-advanced swimmers who have an interest in learning and training for the sport of water polo in a non-competetive environment. Our program focuses on refining water polo skills, building endurance, strategizing, and enjoyment of the sport through games. Each participant will receive personalized instruction, game experience, and a Blue Water T-shirt. Adult Learn-to-Swim Program (see the schedule)

Ages 18+ years old / 30 or 60 minute lessons / Ratio 1 : 1

The Adult Learn-to-Swim Program is designed for adults and is customizable depending on skill level and personal needs. The three levels are: Learning the Basics, Improving Skills and Swimming Strokes, and Swimming for Fitness. All our classes have a strong emphasis on safety in and around the water.
 

Adult Swim / Learning the Basics - These lessons focus on being comfortable in the water, basic aquatic skills like breath control and floating, basic survival skills like bobbing, floating, and treading, and breaking down swimming strokes for optimal learning.

Adult Swim / Improving Skills and Swimming Strokes - These lessons focus on improving proficiency in basic aquatic skills, basic survival skills, and the six basic swimming strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breastroke, elementary backstroke, side stroke, and butterfly.

Adult Swim / Swimming for Fitness - These lessons focus on proficiency of basic survival skills, stroke refinement of freestyle, backstroke, and breastroke, and building optimal endurance.

We operate with a ratio of 20 in-the-water guests to 1 lifeguard, allowing you to sit back and enjoy the party while we take care of the safety of your guests. 01-20 guests / 1 lifeguard   = $35 / hour

Red Cross

Lifeguard Training (see the schedule)

Ages 15 years and older / Online course and 2 day in-person class / Ration 1 : 10

If you are 15 or older and looking for a great summer job or a challenging career, then American Red Cross Lifeguarding is the best place to start! Lifeguarding puts you in an exciting position working as part of a team to help people safely enjoy the water. You could even save a life one day! This course trains students in surveillance skills to help you recognize and prevent injuries, lifeguarding responsibilities, rescue skills in the water and on land, first aid training, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer.

Prerequisites:
Minimum age of 15 years old. Swim 300 yards continuously using these strokes in the following order: 100 yards of front crawl using rhythmic breathing and stabilization, propellant kick. Rhythmic breathing can be performed either by breathing to the side or front. 100 yards of breaststroke, using a pull, breathe, kick / glide sequence. 100 yards of either front crawl using rhythmic breathing or breaststroke, or a combination. Swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive to a depth of 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, and swim 20 yards back to the starting point with object and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, within 1 minute, 40 seconds.

This is a Blended Learning course, which requires students to complete online registration and course work outside of the classroom before completing the two day in-person portion of the class. All online content must be successfully complete prior to the first day of the in-person skill session. American Red Cross Lifeguard Training course = $237 / person (Includes ARC fees)

 

Water Safety Instructor (see the schedule)

Ages 16 years and older / Online Course and 2 day in-person class / Ratio 1 : 10

If you are at least 16 years old and a proficient swimmer, you can become an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor. This approximately 30-hour course will help you teach skills that may save a life, gain terrific work experience as an aquatics professional, earn money or join a volunteer team while you help people learn valuable skills. In addition you will learn organizational and presentation skills that will help you in any career and make a difference in people’s lives. Whether you want to splash around with kids and teach them to swim, help children and adults refine their strokes, or teach diving safety techniques, you can do it as an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor.


Prerequisites:
Minimum age of 16 years old, Fundamentals of Instructor Training Course (FIT), and demonstration of swimming skills consistent with the Stroke Performance Charts, Level 4, by swimming the following strokes: Front Crawl - 25 yards, Back Crawl - 25 yards, Breaststroke - 25 yards, Elementary backstroke - 25 yards, Sidestroke - 25 yards, Butterfly - 15 yards, maintainposition on back for 1 minute in deep water (floating or sculling), and tread water for 1 minute.

 

The Water Safety Instructor Course runs Saturday/Sunday or two consecutive Saturdays from 8:00am - 6:00pm.

This is a Blended Learning course, which requires students to complete online registration and course work outside of the classroom before completing the two day in-person portion of the class. All online content must be successfully completed 48 hours prior to the first day of the in-person skill session. There is an additional $37.00 charge payable to the American Red Cross upon accessing your online content. All information and the necessary link will be emailed after completion of registration.
